What type of recruiter does the RE Japan platform target?

There are a couple of identified profiles that we'd be very happy to sit down and engage.

The first one would be experienced recruiters.  People that are billing quite heavily, having a good run of success over a number of years and a good track record of revenue generation and maybe they're at a stage in their career now where they have thought about branching out and starting up their own venture.

The second one would be already existing recruitment businesses which could be one person up to ten or more people. Maybe some of these businesses have been operating for one year or ten years, but some of them have perhaps not grown or scaled as well as they had originally hoped and at a point now where there's no real clear vision for their future. We'd love to sit down and talk to such companies where we can help them accelerate their growth and scale quicker and then eventually have an exit strategy in mind as well.

Why has Recruitment Entrepreneur entered the Japan market?

Recruitment Entrepreneur, launched in the UK in 2014 and since its inception, they've backed 35 different start-up ventures, so 35 different recruitment companies to launch into the market.  So they have established this proof of concept from the experience in the UK, and they're trying to internationalize this.

Japan is one of the markets that they've decided to set up in since it's the second-largest recruitment market in the world, has a strong economy across many industries and doing amazingly well. So in terms of timing, it's fantastic that they've decided to incorporate here and as of May this year, we've established the Recruitment Entrepreneur Japan entity.

What is the selection process like and how long does it take?

As you can imagine, it is a very detailed and thorough process. And we fully understand that for any entrepreneur or even existing recruitment company now, it can be the biggest business decision that they'll make.

So with this in mind, we are very methodical with the process and there are ten different meeting steps and we envision that in the Japan market this could be achieved over a roughly a  6 to 10 week period. But the reality is everything really begins with that initial contact. So I'm more than happy to have these initial exploratory meetings with entrepreneurs or existing businesses to really get the ball rolling.
